folks...how do i pop off the plastic cover, in order to adj the hand
parking brake cable bolts, on my 1993 940?

it looks like i should be able to get into the rear seat, pop out the
ash tray, and somehow remoce the plastic trim piece...any help or
ideas "out in cyber space" today?

thanx...richard / colorado

First remove the two screws which hold the handbrake opening "brushes", the seat
heat switches and gear lever surround and the metal clip in front of the gear
lever. The two screws may reside under plastic pieces which hide the screw
heads. Then remove the two screws underneath the floor of the armrest/ tidy-bin.
They are underneath a rectangular "hide" panel in the middle of the bottom of
the tidy. You can then remove the whole centre piece (rearwards to clear front
edges, then upwards) which will expose the handbrake mechanism. The handbrake is
adjusted by turning the large plastic "nut" on the cable as it enters the rear
of the handbrake mechanism mounting. There is not a lot of room to do the job if
you only take out the Ashtray/passenger foot lamp assembly.

Cheers, Peter.
