I have a volvo 850 with an  sc700 radio fitted. Today I changed the battery
on the car and then  went to enter the code into the radio. I entered the
code given with  the radio 3 times but each time it said 'error'. After the
third time the display read 'off'. The owners manual states that you have to
wait 2 hours before you can try again to enter the code. After several hours
i have tried again but on switching on the radio the display just says
'off'. Any ideas would be appreciated. Many thanks, Roy

The radio needs to be left on ane the ignition needs to be in the acc
position. for two hours.  Or you could take a nice long drive.

Roy,

You might have to actually leave the radio switched on for two hours after
which it will accept input again, but if it's not accepting the code that
'came with radio', then something is wrong, is it the original radio for the
car? If the radio is anything like some ford ones I've come across then the
next lockout will probably be exponentially longer, i.e. 4 hours.

Hope this helps,
Ken

the key must be on for @ least 2 Hours in position 1 then the radio will
show code when it is ready I would remove the radio write down the serial #
& model # & the Volvo part # a stop by your local Volvo dealer & have them
get the correct code for your radio

Is for the New York City Firemen who lost their lives on September 11,2001.
The official count is 343, but there was also a volunteer who lost his life
aiding in the initial rescue efforts. And I will never forget them as long
as I live,
nor should any American.

If the input code message is still there then what about the possibility
that when changing the battery you have blown a fuse within the radio
itself.  Now I dont know about the 850 but I have had this on a 740 with
Volvo radio - exactly the same symptoms.  I removed radio and inside at the
rear is a small fuse - replaced, re-entered code and all was well again.

Just a thought.
