The tachometer still works, but the speedo (and odometer) have died. About a year ago, there was an intermittant problem. Now it is dead. Please, could anyone suggest the procedure for isolating and repairing the problem? The local independent shop quoted ~$175 if it is a mechanical sender; ~$250 if electrical. Also - if the car has ABS, is the ABS light on? If so, look at the sensor in the differential cover and the associated wiring.  SignatureMike F. Thornhill (near Toronto), Ont. NOTE: new address!! Oh, I missed that the odometer also has died, I would start by checking the wiring to the sensor under the car before even looking at the instrument cluster, it's the more likely problem. JJS reply: Thanks, all, for the replies. No ABS. I will crwal beneath the car to check for any wiring - (Coming out of the [top? side?] of the transmission?).
