Someone at work is selling a Sony CDX-4050 AM/FM/CD stereo. I know
that the wiring won't just plug in, but will the unit physically fit an
'88 Volvo 240? I'll probably end up just running new wires to the rear
shelf for 6x9 speakers, since the front speakers cut in and out at
will...

If it's a standard DIN sized unit (most are) then it'll fit perfectly,
you'll need a mounting kit for either the upper or lower dash position
though and a wiring kit will make your life much easier. Both are available
inexpensively from Crutchfield amoung other places. Actually I have an
adapter for the upper dash position that I'll sell you cheap, it's the one
Crutchfield offers, got it but ended up using the lower position instead.

If I buy the stereo, I'll buy the kit from you - thanks. They are
probably
made in China now, and I try to avoid that stuff.

It was probably made in China a few years ago when I got it too, I dunno,
I'd try to avoid that stuff but these days it would just about mean not ever
buying anything. Just shoot me an email if you want it, $5 including postage
in the lower 48 states.

I know, but used evil is better than new evil. ;(

Deal. I'll know this week, I hope.

Hey, did the 240 DL ('88) come with the 6x9 speakers installed, just
the wiring,
or neither unless you got the optional Good Stereo...?
