94 960: Cold mornings coolant warning light.....

With recent near and below freezing morning temps, my 94 960 has been
burning its coolant level light on start up through warm up.  Once
warm..and once the car is restarted...the light goes away.

Coolant level is fine. I'm suspecting a send unit that doesn't like the
cold or a sticky thermostat. Other ideas appreciated..

Thanks

Sensor might not like being cold (electrical stuff gets like that
sometimes)... If its the sensor i'm thinking of, its just a little level
sensor in the resevoir, looks cheap and easy to replace. If your coolant
level is okay, and your temp light isn't coming on you're probably okay...
On our 960 the temp gauge will hit 1/2 way up and stay there within about a
minute, maybe two in the cold... If the needle sways under heavy/light
engine load or takes a long time to get up, then i'd say there's a problem -
when ours acted like this, it was the thermostat.

Check the Anti-Freeze or coolant in the reservoir for the Anti-freeze
properties - if you ever topped up with plain water, the "coolant" in the
reservoir may be actually freezing over, causing the sensor problems...

I like to go and watch the kiddies running around and screaming.
Of course they don't know I'm only using blanks.....
