It got hit about 2 years ago and finally broke yesterday.

The mirror is ok, just the casting where it attaches to the window (740
Turbo wagon).

A quick look does not tell me how to get it off - do I need to take the
door apart?

Can I get just that casting, or do I have to buy the whole mirror?

i think you remove the interior plate, then you will see the access to
the screws/bolts that hold the mirror onto the door...remove from
inside...

eBay is where i found all of my mirrors.....

The bolts are behind the little triangle on the inside the door.  The
door panel needs to be removed to unplug the electrical, though.  And
the base casting is not available separately, you need to buy the whole
mirror assembly.
