my 850 has a split radio, with tape deck in the car but CD changer in the
boot. It is f.cked. So, can i get a V70 unit (tape and CD player in the
cabin of the car) and just attach it? What needs to be changed on the wiring
harness?

Maybe you should follow the advice you gave to Jonah
(janiekate@bellsouth.net): "drive it to the nearest dump, reverse it onto a
large pile of landfill, liberally splash the car with accelerant, throw a
match in, and catch a taxi home"

I would if I owned them, and replace them with some smooth and powerful
Jaguar Cars.

There was only one. I've long suspected disk jocky head bangers who play
loud music in cars confuse quantity with quality. It's broken because you
played it too loud... god got you.

If its 2000-and older, it should be a direct match, assuming the harness is
OK. My 850 had a cassette, and I got a CD radio on ebay, and it plugged
straight in, no worries.

I was looking into this when I had to replace the radio in my 960... I
believe as long as it's an older shape V70 it works... I got my radio from
an 850 tho (noT a CD player model however, wreckers didn't have one).
The S/V90, some 850's, and I believe later 960's had a premium audio system
with in-dash CD as well - their styling/colours might be a better match with
your 850 too... Don't know the interior of the old style V70 tho (new ones
are totally different)... maybe it looks a lot like the 850, still.
