My '96 960 engine just raced briefly going from 1st to 2nd gear. Then
the "Check Engine" light came on , the transmission selector buttons
began flashing and the winter drive mode arrow now flashes. The
owner's manual says this indcates a problem with the auto
transmission. My dealer said the 960 transmissions sometimes go early.
Mine has 98K on it.

Has anyone experienced anything similar?

normally if you have the car scanned it will come up with a shift solenoid 2
or solenoid b code replacement with OEM solenoids is highly recomended since
aftermarket solenoids are crappy p.o.s. have the car scanned since its 96 it
should be obd2 compliant if you are in united states at least

Disconnect the battery over night, reconnect and the fault may have gone ---
worked on mine.
