My '99 S80 alarm is activating for no reason. Is there a way to lock the car
without arming the alarm system?

The left hood latch is also connected to the alarm.  Look for the wires
leading into that latch, and disconnect the electrical connector.  Now
the alarm will "think" the hood is always open and not arm.  Everything
will still lock.

(But I check the newsgroup more often than this email address.)
