Hi,
As some of us may have heard, the NHTSA (National Highway and Traffic
Safety Administration) is currently investigating Volvo regarding the
electronic throttle module defects that have plagued the 99-01 models.
It is possible for the investigation to result in a recall.

However, despite the fact that this has been a chronic problem for MANY
volvo owners, the NHTSA has only received 136 complaints!! (One of
which involved an accident with 2 injuries.)

If you have had a problem with the electronic throttle module in your
volvo, report it to the the NHTSA, either by calling 1-888-327-4236, or
by using the form at this website:  http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/

If you know somebody that has had this problem, pass this information
on to them as well.

The problem can also be reported to Volvo at 1-800-458-1552, but
reporting it to the NHTSA is more urgent, I would say.

Best,
Wes

I just spoke with the NHTSA.  When you file a complaint, there are many
"systems" to choose from under which to classify the problem.  The
NHTSA told me that problems with the electronic throttle modules should
get filed under the "Vehicle Speed Control" section to be properly
filed for the investigation, and that problems classified under a
different section should be filed again under this section.
