Can anybody help me with an intermittent electric window problem I am having
with my 98 S70, the electric windows stop operating from time to time, hence
this has left me cold and wet a couple of times. I have taken the car to a
Volvo dealer who told me that the main window switch on the drivers side
door needed to be replaced, so $230.00 later I am still having the problem.
Is anybody else having this same problem and if so how did they fix it ?
Many thanks

I was having that, would you believe the coned metal end of the plastic fuse
had worn through (from occasional twirling to keep clean I guess, over
possibly 25 years)?

There is a self resetting circuit breaker that protects both the windows
and sunroof. Next time it happens see if the power sunroof also doesn't
work. If the breaker is functioning as designed (i.e. you have the same
problem with a new one) then there's a short somewhere in the wiring or
switches.

Thanks for your help, I am assuming that you are refering to the circuit
breaker that is located in the main fuse box in the engine compartment.

Yes, that's the one.
