Hi,

I have the same problem with my '96 850 sedan (Australian version).  I also
had the same problem with my previous car, a Volvo 740.  Cleaning the paint
from the underneath of the area where the antenna mounts, so that the
mounting hardware can make a good electrical connection to the chassis
normally helps in this situation.

It  made a really big difference to my 740.  I tried the same with the 850,
with an improvement but not entirely eliminated.

I rubbed a smear of grease on the bare metal cleaned of paint to
prevent/reduce rusting.

I too would be interested if anyone has a complete cure for this.

Regards
Barry

Hello:

Have a look at this link:

I do know how to solve your problem but he does as well and I'm saving
a few minutes in a busy day. Should you have any questions please
repost and I'll be happy to answer them.

Cheerio,

Doc
