V70 tailgate

Have an issue with my tailgate '97 V70. I have to close it several times to
get it to shut properly. The electric button near the fuel cap release in
the drivers door doesn't work on it either.
Sometimes by pressing the lock/unlock a couple of times the tailgate will
then shut properly, other times it doesn't seem to make any difference. It
doesn't seem to matter how hard or soft it is shut, if it is going to it
does, and if it is not going to - it doesn't.

I've seen where the 2 halves of the lock mechanism have had the rivets
holding them together come loose. Removing the mechanism and hitting
the rivets with a hammer and punch fixed the problems.
