Could be trouble starting in the gear position sensor/selector switch
underneath IIRC right hand side. How many miles has your 90 covered?

All the best, Peter.

I generally recommend that the fully synthetic ATF is replaced and the box
flushed every 100,000 miles. Volvo make no recommendations re replacement.
When you carry out the replacement check the switch/sensor and the three
electrical connectors on the box at the same time. The WSE switch may well
play about so give that a check whilst you are doing the box work.

All the best, Peter.
