I'm in the process of changing two front calipers on a 1999 2WD S70
Volvo.  I just picket up a Haynes Manual and they are pretty adamant
about buying new Front Caliper Bracket Bolts to reinstall the
calipers.  This isn't carried buy the local parts dealers and the
Volvo Dealer sucks here - can't even get them on the phone.  What's
the big deal about these bolts?  Is it absolutely necessary to put new
ones on or is this a Volvo gimmick to sell parts?

Thanks for any info,

LL

1 or 2 years ago I was replacing front pads on my 98 S70.  The caliper
mounting bracket (that these two bolts thread into) had one of the
threads stripped. I replaced the bracket and the two bolts from the
local dealer.  These are brakes, after all, and I figured the peace of
mind was worth the small expense.
There are volvo dealers that sell mail order.  I have ordered from the
one in Conneticut with good results. I forget their name.
Slightly off topic but: Oftentimes, parts from the dealer is cheaper
than the junkyard.  Case in point, the aforementioned caliper mounting
bracket was cheaper.  A couple years ago, a steel wheel was a lot
cheaper new than from a junkyard.
