I'm posting this for a buddy that needs some help with his Volvo. He has an
'87 Volvo 240DL and the transmission (automatic) took a crap on him, he
also has an '89 Volvo 740 that the engine is shot in but has a good
automatic transmission. Will the '89 transmission work in the '87 ??? if
so are the torque converters the same? any info or tips would be deeply
appreciated ! ! ! Thanks, Matt

The 740s used two different automatic trannies, if it has P-N-D-1-2-3 on
the shifter then it won't work, if it has P-N-D-1-2 and a button on the
side of the knob then it will, you may have to swap around some brackets
but the transmissions are identical.

Shouldn't that be P-N-D-3-2-1 and P-N-D-2-1 ?!?
