re: 1993 240 DL wagon flame trap location

Hello:

The Bentley and other manuals only say it it under the intake
manifold--and the diagram on a sticker on the area under the hood
indicates it is somewhat towards towards the back.

Hmmm..spent a good bit of time feeling around under there, and also
had a friend (30 yrs experience as a tech on other sorts of cars) look
for it.

Got the car up on a lift and still could not find it from below or
above.

I know it will be simple once I find it, but do need help--and any and
all will be appreciated.

On the B230 engine it is inside the rubber hose which comes up from the
sump,under the inlet manifold about the centre of the engine.The hose
has a "Y" shaped section and it is in that.The newer ones are some sort
of plastic the old ones were coiled brass strip.Quite cheap to
replace.A sure sign it is blocked is blue smoke from the exhaust on the
overrun.
When pulling the hose apart be very careful not to pull it out the sump
as it will not go back in.
