V40 front passenger seatbelt jams

It appears that my co-pilot managed to give the belt a twist while
retracting it (the upper half-twist now residing inside the housing.)

Pulling on the belt results in the locking mechanism immediately
swinging into position, preventing more than an inch of belt to be
pulled out.

Any links to a web-page on how to manually over-ride the locking
mechanism so that I can pull the belt out and get things straightened?

Bit more on the belt mechanism.  I dug out the flashlight and compared
what I could see with the driver side. I then pulled out the driver
side belt and watched it retract a couple times.

It appears that the passenger side belt is wrapped around the pulley a
lot further down than is the driver side.

Does anyone have an exploded diagram of the seat belt pulley mechnism
(or knows where one is on the Internet)?

I've also been warned that this is a no-go area for home repairs due to
the side curtain charge needing to be disarmed prior to poking around.

I think that this is an item that may require a trip to the dealer
($$$$$$) rather than Suters garage($$).
