I'm trying to salvage a hood release cable off of my '87 245 and can't
figure out how to get it to come through the firewall---plastic sleeve
on the inside seems to be keeping it from going through. Any ideas?
thanks anj

I just checked my Haynes manual, and it doesn't mention anything
special:

-Detach the cable from the lock and attach a string or wire to the
end.
- Disconnect the cable clips, seperate it from the handle and pull the
cable through the firewall and into the vehicle interior.
- Connect the string or wire to the new cable, pull it back through
the firewall into the negine compartment, then secure it with the cable
clips and connect it to the lock and handle.
