'92 960 wagon........the speedometer indicates speed, but the
odometer takes large amounts of time off, (doesn't move)  and then will
click off a few miles and stop again.  I haven't dug into it yet.  Is
the assembly run by a cable or electronically?  Anyone experienced this
and find a cure?

Well, if it's anything like my 97 850 or previously owned 240s,
there's a little plastic gear that drives the odometer. I just had my
850 fixed. The thieves at Volvo only want $99.99 US for a quarter inch
plastic 15-tooth gear. This part produced by less thieving folks is
available for $25 US.

I don't know the procedure for the 960. In the 240, the cluster is
removed from behind under the dash. In the 850 it is removed from in
front but the disassmbly is significant.

Hopefully someone here who has had a 960 can comment more
authoritatively.
