power seat issues

the drivers seat in my 850 is reclinded and will not return to the upright position. Anyone have any ideas why? I can heAR THE MOTOR runn when I activate the switch to bring it up

Probably a problem with the drive cable.  See:
http://www.volvospeed.com/Repair/seatcable1.php
You can fix this without replacing the cable.  After removing the upper
end from the motor, pull the inner cable out.  Heat the metal end of the
outer with a heat gun and pull it off.  Cut 5 - 10 mm from the plastic
outer, then reinstall the metal end.  Slide the inner back in and
reattach.
