I have a 2004 S60 2.5T with the autostick (geartronic) transmission. In
the automatic mode, the shift from 2-3rd gear hestiates and then hard
shifts into 3rd gear.Sometimes no hesitation is noticed, but the shift
is hard and is annoying.

Can someone help explain if the tranny needs repair or possibly just a
good flush and fluid change? Thanks!

I have an 06 2.5T S60 and the shifts in "D" are silky smooth but I do
notice that the shifts in Geartronics mode shifts much harder.  So it
may be normal.  I would go to a dealer and ask to test drive a similiar
car that will tell you what is going on.   Good luck.

Ask the dealer to reset the gearbox software ... it'll solve the problem!!!
