I've got a 90' 740 GL with a bunch of miles on it (over 200,000) and I
hauled a load with it the other day and may have screwed up the over drive.
It's been about a week since the hauling and it won't shift into O.D. until
it gets warmed up. All other shifting is normal but it won't shift into O.D.
until I've driven for some miles. Usually around 10-20 miles.  Does anyone
have an idea what I can do to repair this problem?

  Thanks,
        O D Bruce

I doubt you have done anything serious to it. The symptom you describe gets
more common with age, but since yours got much worse after using the tranny
hard you should change the fluid first. Otherwise, I believe there are
people here who can guide you through fixing up the OD solenoid.

Thanks for the information Michael. I wanted to hear from some of you
before I did that so I'll "get'r done" and see if that will fix it. I'll
throw in a new filter too.
   Thanks again,
                Bruce
