I would almost recommend having it done professionally the first time -
because they will have a good high-speed machine to get down to the
shine. Then you maintain it.
Sure you can do a lot yourself, but not compared to a good
professional.

For general over the counter, easy to find stuff use the following:
MaGuires Paint Cleaner
MaGuires Polish
MaGuires Wax
Look for the maroon bottles and the 1,2,3 step labels.
MaGuires is hard to beat for the diy'er, but the 3M stuff above is the
best for pros.
