Hi,
Our 95 850 is supposed to have the EGR valve cleaned or replaced about
every 100k miles, according to the owners manual. One of the local Volvo
dealers tells us that not necessary around here (California) and is not done
anymore so don't worry about it.
Their statement doesn't make sense to us. Any comments? Brad

The thought is probably that the parts may be damaged during disassembly
and cleaning, so it's better to leave them alone.
