How does one tell if they have a limited slip differential?

I've got two '82 models.  One with 4 speed and the othe with auto
trans.

One of the differentials has what look like cooling fins on the bottom
of it, but the other one doesn't.

Any ides?

Put the rear up on jack stands. Put the transmission in neutral. Turn
one wheel by hand. If the opposite wheel turns in the same direction you
have a limited slip differential. If you have a  standard open
differential the opposite wheel will turn in the opposite direction.
Since a LS diff was a dealer installed option in 1982, there should be a
white or yellow paint mark on the diff cover to the right of the fill
plug if it eas converted.
