hey guys, the one i am talking about us mounted
"out side" the cabin, under the car, right about under
the drivers seat.....my mechanic showed me this trick one
day mine took a "brain fart". he said sometimes the pumps
stop (these are for well worn pumps) right between
the wires or electrical components, so that a tap will move
them enough to run again.....anyway..i used this method
to get started about 5 times over the next 20k miles in
my 1993 940t untill i could afford a new pump installed..
for about $400...or so...
anyway, get a medum wrench or hammer and crawl under
the car so you are about under the drivers seat, look up
and you will see a round fuel pump...gentally tap it a few
times and start car...if it works, the pump will need replacing
sometime soon, in the meantime, just tap when it acts up...
good luck !!...
btw: i think there is another pump in the fuel tank...

It happens if the commutator is very well worn in some segments and the
brushes are not making enough contact for the pump to start running if
it happens to stop on one of these more worn segments so yeah sometimes
you can buy a little time by banging on it, I certainly wouldn't count
on that lasting long though, it's just asking to be stranded.
You can buy a pump online for less, it's pretty easy to install with
basic hand tools.

go through and think about the basics:
fuel
spark
compression
"Thanks that could be the problem"
