Because the iPod is CD quality, much better than FM quality.

Crutchfield.com offers one made by usaspec.com which they claim is a
direct fit to your Volvo. It is called a "Honda" model, which makes
more sense than you might think. Alpine is the primary radio supplier
to both Honda and Volvo. You might find other distributors as well.
