just to satisfy my curiosity..,

What be the Crash test rating (Euro NCAP star rating) for VOLVO 200 series,
particularly a 244 GL 1981? The star rating available for these vehicles?

Did they even have star ratings back then?

Regardless of crash tests, 240s still seem to compare favorably in real
world accidents, have a look around a wrecking yard sometime and look at
the way they crumble right where they're supposed to and remain intact
inside.

It's not been tested. They test new cars and they only came into being
in '97. You can see the test results at http://www.euroncap.com/
