I have my ODBII back ordered but for now I'm curious to know what triggers
the check engine light?

i think a number of "issues" will trigger
the light...i believe you need the reader
to fig out what or which issue (50-100 potential
issues...i think) caused or triggered the info
light.....the service light is triggered by
miles driven.....

Any number of things can cause the check engine light, from a bad O2
sensor to a cracked fuel cap (or one not on all the way). This makes
an ODBII controller all the more necessary.
