All,
I'm curious to hear if people think $2600 CDN is too much for a 1991
240 Wagon. The car has A/C, power windows/doors and is rust free. The
only part scaring me away is the KMs. I know the 4 cylinder engine
should go forever but any input is appreciated. I haven't eyeballed
the car in person but might take a trip tomorrow to do so.

Jordan.

Living in a non-metric country I have to convert.  271K km = 169K miles.
In terms of a Volvo 240, that car has just been well run in and should
be good for another 100-150K miles (160+K km).  CDN$2600 = US$2200.
Sounds like a great deal to me, especially if it is indeed rust free and
has been reasonably well maintained.  I think you can plan on spending
some money up front (might need new tires, maybe a new timing belt, etc)
but that's a given with a used car anyway.

If it was me looking at it, I'd test drive the car, have my mechanic
look at it to see what needs fixing, probably buy it and think that I
got a good deal.

I would consider that low mileage for a 240. As for price, it's all in
the cosmetic condition. The mechanical bits are a dime a dozen and easy
to fix, nice cosmetic parts for 240s are getting scarce so if the car is
in nice shape, that's a heck of a deal.

Thanks for the input everyone! I am going to try to get to see it
today...
