I have a noise when the air con is switched on, its almost like a low metal screech noise, the noise is constant even if the fan is put on high. Car regularly serviced 10,000miles ago at 108000. If the bearing seizes or the pulley falls off, you will loose power steering and alternator, which might not be the best thing to happen depending on where you are.
