2001 v70 wagon with 2.4 engine. At times when I stop the car, and get
out, there is a very distinct smell of gasoline. What's going on...how
to correct?

Leaky fuel injectors are a common source of gasoline smell. Look carefully
at each injector for signs of wetness, especially if there is a metal to
plastic junction.

In any case, don't put off this repair. I had a replacement injector for my
Nissan a few years ago and was waiting for the weekend to replace it. The
engine caught fire first. :-(
