Hi Volvo Fans:
Okay tell me what is going on with my door locks....
I have a 2001 S80 T6 with just over 100k. This winter, I have noticed
that the autolock mechanism locks and then immediatley unlocks my
driver door when I click the lock button on the remote. If I keep
trying the remote, the door will eventually lock, but I know that I
probably should not keep doing this, so I just let the door unlock
itself...the alarm does sound when I open the door that thinks it is
locked but really isn't. Do I have a bad lock motor?
I noticed that if I hit the lock button on the remote while the door
is open as I'm getting out, it stays locked (probably about 50% of the
time) so I have resorted to just doing that until I have to fix the
thing.
Anyone else here experienced this phenomenon? Is this common and how
much is it to fix?
Thanks in advance for advice...
Greg

Yes it's common, and yes you need a new door lock to fix it.

I dont know if you ever fixed the problem with your volvo or not but I
finally fixed the key stuck in the ignition and the problem was not as
bad as I thought. Actually because these cars are high computerized
and all. Try a mechanic spraying that liquid type form that cleans
(it's like computer cleaner) blow it with the compressor and it might
do the job.
