For about a week now My 960 96 volvo key was stuck on the ignition
switch. Yes car turns on and all but I cant get the key out of the
switch If anyone nows of a mechanic in or around the area of L.A
please let me know.

Gosh, do they *have* mechanics in or around the L.A. area?
Not much of a population base there, after all.....

Probably the cable from the shifter is not allowing the release of the
key. (i.e., the cable is not moving the interlock to the Park
position.) Try whacking the shifter when it's in the park position, see
if that helps.

Replace tt with t (twice!) and remove parentheses to email me directly.
(But I check the newsgroup more often than this email address.)

...or just jiggle the shifter around a bit in Park (that works for
me).

Actually I just got your message and this is what ended up happening
this mechanic that has been a friend of mine for many years he
doesn't work on Volvos but he got tired of me complaining so he took
my car for a few hours and problems been fixed since then. If you
want to know what happened ask me.

We always like to see the resolution here, also it helps the next guy,
if he knows how to use google groups.

Where are you in th L.A. area? I know of a really good shop in
Pasadena, Independant Volvo which surprisingly enough is right around
the corner from the Pasadena Volvo Dealer who I would never let them
touch any of my Volvos.

Did any soft drinks, orange juice or other sticky drinks get spilled
on the transmission tunnel?
