Follow up, 1985 245 with tranny fluid leaking after overfill, then
very minor leak afterwards.

I pulled off the speedo gear from the rear of the tranny and found a
partially broken sprocket, a bad main O-ring and deteriorated thread
tape (if any).

I have a photo, I hope this will be the source of my leak.

Question:
At the base of the sprocket - does an o-ring go there? I see where
there is 1 main o-ring around the middle of the sensor body, 1 rubber
cap that fits into the tube going to the speedo?  Did I miss any? How
many total?

THanks!

I went to the mechanic shop for an O-ring and the guy thinks it isn't
the O-ring, but the cap that seals inside of the housing where the
speedo cable screws in. He says it got hard. So I used some form-a-
gasket to see if I can assist the seal until I replace the part.

Looking at IPD (I can't find it at FCP), it seems to be called a
Speedo Cable Drive Seal. $2.50. I think I'll get an O-ring to boot and
see what happens.
