Hi, I wondering if anybody had any idea if it was possible to put Dohc
from my 89 740 gle into my 245 wagon?the 245 wagon is 5spd sohc the
740 a automatic. I know I got to move the distributor and swap
transmissions. Is there anything else that I should do? Anybody done
this before? Help I want to do this so bad.

For all the work, why not put in a turbo engine?

Is there room for the standard distributor? You might have to go with
distributorless ignition. It can be done though, I've seen it done. The
16V is a nice motor, very smooth.

No I don't want the turbo due to the gas prices and the fact the motor
in my gle only has 130,00 thats barely broken in. Yes I can move the
distributor, but if anybody has a link on how to do a distrubutor
ignition let me know. Jason

The turbo should get comparable fuel economy, but since you already have
a good motor from a (presumably) wrecked car then go for it. As for
distributorless, do a search for Ford EDIS, that seems to be the most
common one people transplant. You could also use Megasquirt & Spark to
control both the fuel and ignition, that's more work but a LOT more
versatile.
