I just got a new Jetta and when it is 39 degrees outside it dings and shows
a little snow flake on the display. Is this just the car telling me that it
is cold outside? I've looked through the manuals and found nothing.
Thanks,
Jim

Yep. "Warning, there could already be ice on wind-swept areas or on
bridges. Just letting you know."

A Bond actor that publicly declares to be afraid of guns and manual
transmissions is a joke. But I bet he could give fabulous make-over
hints.

On my 05 Passat (Canadian model) I get that whenever the temperature
is between +4C and -4C and I start it up, or whenever the temperature
moves into that range while driving. The snow flake stays on at any
temp below +4C, although it doesn't "ding" when the temp drops below
-4C.
