My key buttons recently stoped working, now i have to manually unlock
and lock everything. We replaced the batt. and check and cleand the
fuses, everything started working.. but all of the sudden nothing
works again. Now when i'm driving my dome lights come on, and it
starts dinging like the door is open... or even worse at night when
the lights are on, it's just one long dinnnnnnnnnnnnng. Any clue as to
what needs a fixin, with out having to go to the dealer?

Your complaint is a common symptom of a door lock module (locking
unit) going bad. Unfortunately in most cases, the comfort system needs
to be scanned and read to determine the exact problem, meaning you
shoud see a dealer or vw specialist with the proper diagnostic tools.
