The Car and Deep Cycle Battery FAQ Web pages have been moved.  They
are located at http://www.batteryfaq.org/.  The latest version is 7.0,
dated May 28, 2007.

The FAQ is consumer oriented with answers to questions about lead-acid
batteries for car, motorcycle, power sports, truck, boat, marine,
recreational vehicle, solar, and other starting and deep cycle
applications.  The Web pages also contain brand names, tips,
manufacturer contact information, technical references and hyperlinks.

Kindest regards,

BiLL......

If you have one, the battery in your UPS for your PC has a vented lead acid
battery as well.

I am pretty sure they are sealed batteries in your ups. I could be
wrong though.

The state-of-the-art lead-acid battery is the valve-regulated type
(sometimes called "sealed" or maintenance-free), which fixes the acid
electrolyte in a gel or in an absorptive fiberglass mat. The advantage
of this design is that the battery needs no water additions, can be
operated in any position, and can be used in close proximity to people
and sensitive equipment. Additional benefits: maintenance-free,sealed
no-leak design, higher cranking amps, lower self-discharge, greater
vibration resistance, heavy duty, no-corrosion terminals.
