Anyone have experience upgrading their headlight bulbs to 100W (or
higher...) ?  Have a brace of 2005 Passats, and have been less than
impressed with the light thrown forward, often over-running it at 110km/hr
out in the (dark) country.....

Reassurance that wiring/plastic headlight housings can handle it
appreciated!

I dunno about the plastic housings but I would be willing to bet that
the wiring won't.  look into a relay harness... in fact that may
brighten up your stock bulbs...

It may be illegal depending on where you are.  I would also suggest that
the problem may be the lenses not the lamp.  Those plastic lenses are easy
to frost over by abrasion and that cuts the light down greatly.

Thanks:

1) I'm aware that 100W bulbs are not for "on road" use, and

2) The lenses are pristine, with about 30,000km on them and several waxings
with P21 wax, just like the rest of the vehicle, so I don't think *that's*
it..
