Hello,

I am a few weeks away from tearing apart my 92 Jetta and re-painting it.
However, I have a few rust spots coming through on the c-pillar under the
rubber rain gutter that runs along the window pillars and the roof on either
side.

How does one go about removing them without distroying them. As far as I
know they have an aluminum track under them that snaps into pieces in the
track on the roof...but how to actually get them out is a bit of a
mystery...please help!!!!!!!!

Sciroccos of that time have a plastic gutter trim that you have to lift
one end of, and then slide towards the front or rear of the car.

If it's the same as a MK2 Golf's rain gutter, then it is an absolute swine
to get off. There are plastic clips that catch onto studs that stick out of
the top of the car. The best way IME is to pry it up *very* gently, along
with lots of waggling. Once ones up, the rest get easier. Be very careful
not to bend the metalwork of the car or to irreversibly bend the plastic
gutter. It may be worthwhile trying this on a scrap car first.
