Car has low kms (21000) and still gets good fuel economy BUT the snap is
gone - I thought it might be bad fuel so I tried different brands but it
still runs the same. I've also tried a couple of different diesel
additives but no help there.

Any thoughts??

Have you replaced the air and fuel filters lately? And checked for
water in the fuel filter?

One load of bottom-of-the-tank diesel can do no end of harm in the TDI
system. Been there, done that.

All done - some one else suggested "Mass Air" but that means nothing to me

Sounds like mine, which is due for removal of the intake
manifold and decarbonizing.

Start by disconnecting the MAF.  If that helps, you found your problem.

Has it had any CEL's??  How many miles on it?  Auto or manual?

It seems a little early for the problem, but it could be a clogged
intake.  Kind of a nasty job to remove and clean, but if you are into DIY it
can be done cheap.  Over at the TID Club http://www.tdiclub.com/  they have
some instructions.

Heres a CRAZY idea. Why not take it to the dealer if its an 06 with 21K on
it. Its still under warranty. Let them worry about it.

Good point.  I totally missed that in the OP's message.
