I was looking into the melting/decomposing point of carbon fiber, and it may be as high as 2500C. This is far higher than the inside of an engine. This maybe too optimistic. Kevlar, which is similar to carbon fiber, decomposes at 400C. But

The SB 5 was as empty as I've ever seen it this morning - so empty that the ramp meter was on solid green. The entire trip was an 80+ MPH breeze, thanks to a pickup truck which hit a sign post about a mile upstream and caused an enormous traffic jam.
