Air Cooled Volkswagen Cars (view all ...)Last Post  Replies
I detest pC,s, paypal etc04 Sep 2010 18:55 GMT4
Is it any wonder I enjoy working on VW,s?. At least they work or there is
some evidence they were designed by someone with an IQ greater than a
canetoad.  I,ve just spent 2 hours trying to set up Paypals, 2nd email
accounts etc etc all to buy something and still nothing.  A ...

Super Beetle Frame problem?03 Sep 2010 18:30 GMT2
I am looking at my '73 SB vert, and the frame head in front is pretty
torched.
The body is in quite good shape, though...
Any ideas on what/how to replace a SB frame-head?  I am a decent
Valve train geometry question help  please !02 Sep 2010 02:42 GMT7
After I adjusted the no 3 exhaust valve, only about ½ the lock nut
threads were holding the adjusting screw. Most of the other adjustment
screw lock nuts look OK.
I have been doing this for years.
replacing ignition switch01 Sep 2010 21:53 GMT3
Can I do it w/o removing the steering wheel?
Looks like there's a screw underneath that may allow me to remove the cover.

horn ground contact through lever?01 Sep 2010 17:05 GMT6
I'm fixing my horn on my '65 Ghia. I've troubleshooted by horn
(problems included poor connection on the jumper to the steering box
and a bad relay), and I'm 99% of the way to getting the horn to beep
correctly when I press the horn button.
longer intake manifold studs?01 Sep 2010 04:33 GMT4
I've recently switched intakes and now the studs in the heads that
bolt down the intake manifolds are too short (they used to always be a
little bit too short, but now they're so short that the nut only goes
on about half way). Anyhow, pulled one out by double-nutting it so
Bought a project type34, -6528 Aug 2010 09:03 GMT2
There was awfully silent here (or my news server is missing a lot of news)
so something potentially interesting to fill the void. ;)
Actually I bought it a month ago but I bought it from Germany (mobile.de,
wasn't cheap either, 5500 euros) and it took a long  time to get it
67 - Long or Short Axle ?19 Aug 2010 17:15 GMT2
I'm just sorting through all my stuff. I have most of the back end of a
67 bug.  I was wondering if the axle tubes/shafts are early / late - or
one year only ?
thanks

'90 Golf can't get rear drum back on after replacing pads03 Sep 2010 10:13 GMT2
Am replacing rear brake shoes. Had a leaky cylinder that was causing
the rear-right brake to lock up and the tire to skid on moderately
hard stops in wet weather. Anyways, I started with the good side (left
rear), replaced shoes, springs etc. But for the life of me I can't get

Mk 4 immobiliser18 Aug 2010 10:57 GMT4
Having problems with the immobiliser on a Mk 4 Golf.  When I put the
ignition key in it doesn't always turn off the immobiliser so you can't
start the engine.  Under these conditions the immobiliser light is
flashing.  Same with both keys.

80's heat shields13 Aug 2010 23:34 GMT3
The heat shield for the exhaust system on my '87 Scirocco has come loose and
is sitting on the exhaust system.
I've been looking it over, as best one can with the car still standing on
the ground, and I'm not seeing any obvious mounting points on it.  But there
Taurus SHO13 Aug 2010 20:22 GMT-
When we reported last month that Ford may push the Taurus SHO up to
400 horsepower, it caused quite a stir in the comments. Speaking at
the annual SHO Convention held this year in Dearborn, Steve Ling,
Ford's North American car marketing manager told us, "365 horsepower
