Alloy Wheel Sizes and lowering the back end09 May 2008 17:21 GMT2
I wonder if someone could help me with wheel/tyre sizes. I am looking
for a set of Porsche Fuch alloys for a '69 beetle and have been
offered a set for £350. However I have no idea if they would be a
suitable size.

Damn, am I stupid! Where is reserve again?09 May 2008 17:10 GMT-

Where TF is the reseve position on the old Bug? I don't have that neat plate
that shows the settings.
Beetle gas mileage09 May 2008 17:06 GMT29
With gas prices the way they are I'm seriously considering a Beetle to
drive to work most days and save my Jeep for when the weather is
seriously nasty.
I'm thinking a mid 70's Super Beetle but I expect a Standard would do

Pressure plate/throw out bearings dying?07 May 2008 21:28 GMT1
On my 6V '65, when I press in the clutch (via the pedal) with the engine
OFF, it works fine... no weirdness or anything.
Start the motor and as I depress the clutch it starts to whirr - then there
is a "clunk" followed by normal clutch action.  Sometimes it was FAR TIGHTER

Help. My engine runs 'lumpy'09 May 2008 18:28 GMT2
VW Passat Estate 1800CL 1985
I took the head off and had it skimmed, adjusted the valve clearences with
new shims and reassembled the engine. It starts but runs so 'lumpy' it shakes
the driver when ticking over. It isnt misfiring and it isnt slow to rev up.
Is there a hi-temp expanding foam on the market?09 May 2008 15:42 GMT4
I have a small hole in the exhaust manifold right where it attaches to the
engine -- actually a small piece of the gasket is missing. There's a little
space in there that would seem ideally suited to accept a dollop of foam.
The foaming insulation at  the hardware store can only ...

VW offers college saving plan as Routan incentive09 May 2008 07:15 GMT-
There is definitely no shortage of incentives to buy Chrysler-built minivans these days. If you buy one of Chrysler's two minivans ? the Chrysler Town & Country or Dodge Grand Caravan ? you get a credit card that locks in gas prices for three years. If you buy a Volkswagen-badged ...
driveline vibration- Rabbit09 May 2008 03:40 GMT7
84 Rabbit-
It vibrates the most on the freeway, the faster I go, the more it
vibrates.  It's not the tires; I've had them balanced and it goes away
when I step on the clutch.

Knocking steering - any advise, please07 May 2008 03:41 GMT6
At the last MOT of my 2000 2.0 Cabrio, I had a warning that the top steering
mounts were showing signs of play.  I'm now getting a knocking from the
steering when turning from lock to lock and at low speeds.  The car had a
new steering rack 20k ago, so I'd like to think it's not ...
