Re: Grundy Insurance deal

I don't think this is the deal on the original note. He has been rebuilding a rear suspension so I don't think he is driving it. That means he must have some way around.
The catch is that he lists two collector cars yet Grundy says they won't insure one as new as a '79 unless it is part of a collection. I guess two isn't a collection.
I haven't seen any of the collector insurance companies not mention you must have a daily driver and regular insurance on the daily. They all mention the collector is not to be used for daily and not to be used as backup transportation.
The world of insurance just plain sucks.

>Interesting, I also have them and the subject never came up. Maybe it's >something that the broker threw in to get more of your business? My insurance broker had nothing to do with it. On the application you must list your newer car and the insurance for that car.
I think it also explans in on the application that this must be filled in before you can submit the application as Hagerty does not insure daily drivers and you can not use Hagerty as your main car insurance. In other words, you must be insured by another insurance company before Hagerty will insure your classic.

So if you have your 03 Honda Accord insured by State Farm, then you might be able to get collector insurance for the 75 Corvette.

I picked this up on the NCRS board tonight. Something to think about.
Since insurance comes up rather often, I thought I'd pass this note on that I received from Grundy:
Thank You for contacting GRUNDY WORLDWIDE's web site. Unfortunately, we are unable to insure Corvettes model year 1974 or newer unless the vehicle is part of a collection of collector cars. Best of luck in your search for proper coverage on your vehicle. Respectfully, GRUNDY WORLDWIDE
No where on their web site do they state this. The best part, on their application, I listed this:
How many collector cars owned? - 2
I wonder what they require as a collection.
