Software update flash BCM per TSB > 0800604 (LOP 08196194). That is not a flash update for the PCM, it is an update for the BCM and the fix was for Illumination for instrument panel, overhead console, radio and climate control not able to adjust with the headlamp on or in the auto position. It has nothing to do with bulbs inop. you would have to remove the dash to check the bulbs/connections

Since you don't specify year/make/model all I can say is I don't think reprogramming a module would have anything to do with your problem. It sounds like a bad bulb pr loose connection.

One to three of the small bulbs on the tachometer and speedometer are sometimes on and sometimes off. If off, I can get them on by tapping the front of the panel with my finger. Then they stay on for the rest of that trip. My dealer "reprogrammed" something but that didn't help. Is this problem likely with the bulbs or something else. If just bulbs, I can replace them myself. If something else, I don't want to disassemble the dash for nothing. Thanks.
