What's wrong with four doors? Are you one of those manly rednecks who think two doors is cool, four doors is geeky and makes you look like a family man or sump'n?

A-FRIGGIN-MEN I DON'T want four doors I WANT a hatchback I DON'T want a more expensive engine and a lot of crap telling everybody I bought the most powerful engine availible in a Civic. I DON'T want some funky shifter sticking out of the dashboard I just want a two door plus hatchback REGULAR Civic NO ABS (or the bill to fix an ABS black box after 5 years out of warranty for thousands of dollars. I bought a 2002 Civic coupe and my only regret is it isn't a hatchback My next car will have a hatchback, and if Honda will not offer it it will not be a Honda.

The Wall Street Journal did a nice comparison based on test drives this week of the competing models, Fit, Yaru (really a Scion Xa) etc
The only knock they had on the Fit was a excessive amount of road noise. I think it was like 78db on the highway. The only other negative I've heard is the poor rear visibility, but jeez, have you sat in a 2006 Civic? The rear visibility is so bad that you might as well just remove the rear view mirror.
And lets face it, if the boneheads at Honda of America had continued selling a regular Civic Hatchback, we wouldn't be having this discussion! Losers.
As for the Scion Xa, it is pretty nice, but I'm not sure I can deal with this speedometer (for no good reason) being moved to the middle of the dash.

Can you say about how much you paid?

>If yes..... how you liking it? Got mine April 29 - base model, manual transmission, storm silver metallic.
I like it just fine after 950 miles - quiet, roomy, good handling, adequate power, well-assembled;
Have taken it easy for breakin period; have had it up to 85 on Interstate and it seems stable and willing to go faster;
Gas mileage is phenomal so far: First tank 40.4 mpg Second tank 40.5 mpg Third tank - leisurely trip on rural roads to blue ridge mountains, trip on skyline drive, return on rural/interstate, used a/c about 1/3 of the time: 45 mpg!
Has lots of features to like: instruments radio layout cup holders magic seats great shifter feel lots of standard equipment good legroom/ comfort in all seats
a few minor peeves: speedo markings could be better- numbered only every 20 mph; hash marks for 5 mph intervals hard to see - takes extra mental processing to determine your speed - its not intuitive. Wide A-pillars block visibility. Long clutch travel with short engagement zone. Lots of storage places but none are lockable
Overall, very satisfied
