Help needed in selecting salvaged door frame and fender

rshingrani@gmail.com28 Mar 2006 19:52
Hello all,

I own a 93 Honda Accord EX. My car was in an unfortunate accident a
couple of nights back. I had just parked my car on the street and was
emptying the car of some stuff. The left front door (driver's door) was
open and an intoxicated driver in a pick up truck hit that door and
sped off.

Now, since I bought the car for only $2500, I do not have comprehensive
insurance and have only liability covered. End point being, since the
other guy ran off, I have to pay for the damages out of my own pocket.

I got a couple of quotes and figured the cheapest way to go would be to
provide the body shop with the parts. They told me I need a replaced
front left door and fender. Also, the mechanic specified that the door
frame should be for electronic controls, since my car is an EX.

Now I have been asking around for these parts and have found some cheap
deals, but before I go ahead and purchase anything, I wanted to know if
there are things I need to look out for.

1. What is the visible difference between a door for manual controls
and one for electronic controls?
2. Does anyone know reliable salvage parts dealers in the Milwaukee, WI
area?
3. Any other aspect of this entire process that I should be aware of?

Any help on this would be deeply appreciated. I am an international
student here and need to save every single penny through the repair
process.

Thanks everyone,
Looking fwd to any suggestions,
Rahul
