Since these functions are independent, a splicing of the wire would have been enough...
Anyway, I shorted these two wires and now the ceiling light turns on when needed.

Because if you had a Honda alarm, it would need to know if the door was popped open, and it can figure that out if it saw the interior light come on. The Honda alarm sat on top of the radio, in that odd 'slot'.

Hello,
I recently changed the factory radio with an aftermarket receiver. All good and dandy, but I just noticed that the ceiling light doesn't work anymore in the middle ("door") position. The car doesn't have keyless entry.
I thought that the switch is broken, but after checking the wiring diagrams I noticed that the door switches used to go through the green connector ("keyless entry") into the factory radio as the light green/red wire. The ceiling fixture goes into the same connector as the light green/black wire.
Since the new receiver does not have these two wires (no green connector), is it OK to simply short these two wires at the green connector?
Anyway, what is the reason for which the ceiling light did go through the factory radio in the keyless entry connector?
Thank you,
Serban
